I've been following my heart since it started beating.. I like to think of myself as 18 years old with 25 years experience.

I've done everything from running startup and advanced development software groups to sailing around the world for six years

My work at Anything Goes Lab

I intend to help people focus on their passions [follow their passions]

I believe most people are overwhelmed by information, options and opinions

I believe progress and iteration are important for innovation

I believe passion and momentum are a powerful combination

My people are stuck and have lost momentum

My invention is a program to help people determine optimized next steps towards their goal

I believe following any passion is like a voyage through uncharted waters

nextsteplabs intends to help people overcome what is blocking their passion.

I believe the most effective solutions are developed by people who understand and care about the problem, team and customers.

I believe people should have easy access to team-like resources outside their area of expertise.

My people are entrepreneurs that are stuck and I want them to feel re-energized (focused and moving) towards their goals

Checkins

10/3 (friendfeed discussion) I'm still working on determining the exact form of my invention (training, community, consulting service). I'm working with team members from the lab to help them get unstuck and it *seems* to be working. I need to solicit more feedback and/or document my results/ideas.

My back stories

I have watched countless friends/colleagues struggle while determining next steps, sapping energy away from their main passion/goal.

I helped the founder of West Marine develop a "modern" integration strategy for web, store and community content.

I documented what works/what doesn't for our entire trip to help fellow sailors realize their sailing dreams. I mapped uncharted areas to create chartlets that were distributed to fellow sailors to help ease fears traveling in remote areas.

I helped Brad create a Social media strategy for his marketing team. Rapidly brainstormed teams issues and goals to develop a working prototype that allowed the team to collaborate on their ideas.

I've created a "labs" environment in a couple of companies to drive long term strategic development.

I helped David develop a stock strategy for founders & new hires. Also helped brainstorm company adviser requirements.

Brainstormed a rapid prototype for an entrepreneurial Physical therapist, allowing her to feel comfortable with the latest technology and focus on her main goals.

I helped fellow travelers develop a strategy to stay connected with their families while in remote locations.

more beliefs

I believe that gaining forward momentum in the early stage of a roadblock is crucial to re-energize the creative process.

I believe that a "fresh set of eyes" is valuable during brainstorming and "devil's advocate" discussions.

I believe people will focus on what they enjoy, leaving other areas exposed and incomplete.

I believe most inexperienced entrepreneurs will tend to focus 100% on tactical survival vs a portion on strategic planning.

I believe failure is a powerful learning tool as long as you take the time to analyze the cause.

I believe that the correct decision at the right time can make all the difference in the success of a project/company.
